ANTONINE Black carried on the club’s fine cup tradition by lifting the Under-19s Scottish Youth FA Cup last weekend at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium.

The Duntocher club defeated Albion Rovers 4-2 in the final to get their hands on the trophy.

The all-Glasgow & District YFL final kicked off at a frantic pace.

And Antonine as they got off to a flyer when Andy Gavin headed the ball home in the opening 10 minutes.

Antonine were quick to double their lead.

David Seagrave played a great ball over the top for Daryl McMillan to head over the keeper and into the net.

Albion Rovers grabbed one back 10 minutes before half time.

A deflected shot fell to the feet of Anthony O’Kane near the penalty spot and he slotted it into the bottom corner.

Half Time: Albion Rovers 1-2 Antonine Black

An early goal in the second half gave Antonine a two-goal cushion once again. A scramble on the goal line gave Andy Gavin a tap-in at the far post.

Antonine’s Aaron Graham then tried his luck from 40 yards but the ambitious effort went just wide of the post.

The Duntocher side killed the game off as Daryl McMillan completed his double.

He dribbled along the 18 yard line before drilling a superbly placed shot into the bottom right corner.

Rovers were given a lifeline when Connor Shields crossed the ball to the back post and it eluded the defenders and the goalkeeper to sail into the top corner.

Antonine goalkeeper Paul McKenna was called into action in the closing stages and pulled off a terrific double stop to protect his side's two-goal cushion.

He saved first from Ryan McManus and then also kept out the rebound attempt from Shields.

But that proved to be the final chance of the game for Rovers as Antonine held on and secured a memorable Scottish Cup victory.
