CLYDEBANK football team PFD United are on the brink of an historic cup double after coming through a thrilling Scottish Cup semi-final on penalties.

United took on Tynecastle FC for a place in the final and with the scores level at 1-1 the match went to extra time.

PFD struck first in extra time to go 2-1 up in the first half.

However they were left shell-shocked when Tynecastle equalised with five minutes of second half extra-time remaining.

However PFD quickly regained their composure and held their nerve in the shootout to win 5-3 .

They are also through to the Regional Cup final after a convincing 4-1 win against Drumsagard FAC in the semi-final.

The Scottish Cup final is on Sunday, May 22, it is a 1:30pm kick-off at Airdrie’s Excelsior stadium.

The Regional Cup Final is on Sunday, June 5, and it is a 1pm kick-off at Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview Park.

PFD coach Redmond Buchanan said: “It’s a great achievement to be in the final of the two biggest tournaments in Scotland.

“It would be great for the local community to come out and support the boys in the games.”
