CLYDEBANK capitulated to their fourth straight league loss with a 5-0 defeat away to Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday, writes David Brockett.

Doubles from Graham Wilson and Sean McIlroy and a goal from Dwayne Hyslop secured all three points in what was a totally dominant display.

Bankies boss Kieran McAnespie made three changes to the side that lost to Beith, with David Verlaque making his second debut at right back and Calum Gow and Josh Watt returning to the starting eleven.

It was the hosts who created the first chance of the game. After Calum Gow rushed out of defence, Mark Shankland played a neat one-two round the corner before setting up Jamie Glasgow, but the winger’s shot was beaten away by Morrison.

But Clydebank’s defensive resistance was broken as Talbot opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour. The home side sprung the offside trap with Mark Shankland releasing Graham Wilson through on goal. Wilson was afforded too much space and time, picking his spot and passing the ball past Scott Morrison.

Captain Alan Vezza had Clydebank’s best effort of the first half, forcing Talbot stopper Andy Leishman to tip his looping header over the bar.

Talbot were in full control of proceeding on the slick Beechwood surface and should’ve added a second. Catching Clydebank on the counter, debutant Verlaque dithered on the ball, allowing Glasgow a free run at goal but once again Morrison thwarted the winger’s low effort.

The miss of the game came shortly afterwards when the Bankies were once again cut open by a quick passing move. Glasgow drove the ball across the face of goal for Wilson who blasted over from all of six yards Three minutes after the restart, Talbot doubled their lead. Glasgow was once again the catalyst, waltzing through the heart of the Clydebank defence with Wilson adding his second from the rebound.

And on 55 minutes it was three. Shankland’s free kick found Dwayne Hyslop who got the better of Gow in the air to nod home a deserved third.

Experienced stopper Morrison was responsible for keeping the score down and produced of a series of brilliant saves five minutes into the second period to deny McCracken and Hyslop.

Then Mark Shankland’s clever flick released substitute Sean McIlroy down the left who easily beat brushed off Vezza and Gow and lifted the ball over Morrison for his first and Auchinleck’s fourth of the afternoon.

Bankies misery was complete on the stroke of ninety minutes Shankland rounded Morrison, before dinking the ball back across goal for McIlroy who tapped in his second on the goal line.
