A former bus depot turned indoor pickleball centre in Old Kilpatrick has reopened after refurbishment, giving residents a place to play, learn and meet others through the fast-growing racket sport.
Blazing Paddles Pickleball Centre, located at 223 Dumbarton Road, is the brainchild of owner James Steel, who saw potential in the building after trying out pickleball at a nearby sports hall.
After a temporary closure for refurbishments, the centre has recently reopened, now boasting a new roof, improved playing surfaces, freshly painted courts, and upgraded lighting.
Players have responded positively to the changes, with positive comments about the courts and lighting.
The centre originally opened in June, as we previously reported, and it currently features three indoor courts, with plans that could eventually see the site expand by a further six.

James's vision for the centre goes beyond just court hire.
Blazing Paddles aims to be a community hub where people of all abilities can enjoy the sport, from complete beginners to experienced players.
Pickleball blends elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, using paddles and a perforated plastic ball on a court about the size of a badminton court.
It can be played at a gentle pace or at a faster, more competitive level as players build confidence and skill.
Newcomers are encouraged to get involved, with the centre putting a strong emphasis on making the game accessible to all.

Phil Dawson, who supports James in running the centre, helps with everything from welcoming new players to keeping the courts clean.
Phil said: "We were all beginners once and know what it’s like to walk onto a pickleball court for the first time
"We want people to feel welcome, understand the basics and get playing as quickly as possible."
James’s longer-term vision includes the possibility of expanding beyond the existing three courts.
The focus remains on building a supportive, welcoming environment for both new and regular players.
Blazing Paddles is open to anyone interested in trying something new, staying active in a social setting, or already passionate about the sport.
Courts can be booked through the MATCHi app at £16 per court per hour.
A membership option is also available, offering unlimited play for £40 per month.
