Clydebank’s own John McGinn sends heartfelt message to an Alexandria primary school ahead of Scotland’s World Cup game on Sunday.

As excitement brews at home, pupils at St Kessog’s Primary School received a personalised message all the way from New York as McGinn counts down the final days before kick-off.

In the video on Facebook, he says that he’s sure they’ll all be excited and hopes that they are allowed to stay up late for the 2am match start, to watch Scotland “get the wins”.

He said: “There’s plenty of players in St Kessog’s that I need to be watching in 10-15 years play for Scotland.

“You never know, just keep listening to your teachers, and keep working hard, doing your homework and have fun.”
