CLYDEBANK FC are set to mark 20 years of fan ownership with a charity match.

The fixture will also honour the 2003/04 Central Division Two League champions, who are playing against the 2011/12 Central League winners at Holm Park on Sunday, May 5 at 12pm.

The 03/04 side, led by Budgie McGhie, will feature Mark Hailstones, Davie Harris, Clinton Maxwell, Davie Reid and Kevin Stanley while the 11/12 side has Budgie’s no.2 at the time Stuart Allison featuring alongside Darian MacKinnon, Paul Allum, Andy Paterson, Paul Bell and current manager Gordon Moffat.

Looking back at the league-winning campaign, McGhie said: "At the end of that season, the Coltness game at the Hibby was a great occasion for everyone and that day made everything that season well worth it.

"There has been a good bit of banter on the WhatsApp chat over the last few weeks so it will be great to see some of the guys I haven’t seen for 18/19 years."

The sides will wear special tops for the fixture supplied by match sponsors Pitch Teamwear and the match-worn jerseys will be available for purchase in the days after.

All proceeds will go to local charities with entry by donation at the gate.

Current Bankies boss, Moffat, a player under McGhie for that cup win in 2012, detailed how much he is looking forward to being back playing with his former team-mates: "We’ve got a good nucleus of that squad from that night at Newlandsfield, so it will be good to get back in a dressing room together.

Clydebank Post:

"It’s like no time has passed at all so I’m looking forward to getting out on the pitch with them.

"Though I don’t think some of them will be moving as fast!"

Organiser Paul Cummings was also keen to highlight the importance of marking the anniversary of fan ownership.

And he hopes supporters and players alike will enjoy the experience.

"The opportunity to celebrate 20 years of taking control of our club and how far we’ve progressed seemed a no-brainer to me," he added.

"To be able to honour Budgie’s title-winning side with one of his Central League Cup winning squads led by Gordon seemed the perfect event to bring so many back together for a day.

"It would be great to see as many fans and former players along to watch some old faces wearing the Bankies jersey once again as they roll back the years, and our raffle has given a couple of lucky supporters the chance to be part of the on-field action too.

Clydebank Post: Budgie McGhie, left, and Gordon Moffat, right, will be leading the two teams out

"I think everyone connected with the club over the last 20 years should be proud of their contribution as we continue to try and progress the Clydebank name back up the Scottish football ladder and this game can be an opportunity for us all to celebrate our efforts while making some money for a local charity too.

"I’d like to thank everyone who has chipped in to make the day happen and to Pitch Teamwear for the special strips."
