Yoker Athletic under-20’s are on the lookout for a new management team in a bid to maintain their West of Scotland Football Development League status.

The sudden departure of boss Shona Crawford and her coaching staff has left the Whe Ho youngsters urgently searching for new faces both in the dugout and on the pitch.

The Holm Park side fulfilled all fixtures in the PlayerData League Cup at the beginning of the season, narrowly missing out on top spot to Maryhill in Section 7 of the competition, but were forced to postpone their first league game of the season last Friday.

The WoSFDL announced on social media on Wednesday that Yoker had withdrawn from Conference C in the league, but that post has now been removed.

Yoker were coming into the 2023/23 campaign on the back of a successful final season in the Scottish Lowlands Development Football League where they recorded a second-place finish in a hotly contested title race.

First-team boss Gordon Robertson has revealed that the club have been given a short period of time to get a management team in place to allow their fixtures to be reinstated and has urged any interested parties to come forward as soon as possible.

He told the Post: “The under-20s has been a massive benefit to the first team in my time at the club.

“Several players have had big impacts on the team, such as scoring winning goals in cup ties.

“We are really keen for the 20s not to just fade away after a really successful time recently.

“Anyone interested in coming to the club, whether it be as a coach or as a player, should know that they would have the full backing of myself and the rest of the club."

Any interested parties are encouraged to contact club secretary Alan Speirs on 07722 087762 or by email at speirsalan@hotmail.com as soon as possible.
