Clydebank boss Gordon Moffat insists he is satisfied with the progress his side made last season.

The Bankies finished fourth in the Premier Division, the same position as the previous campaign, and made it to the final of the West of Scotland League Cup, although lost out to Auchinleck Talbot.

The Holm Park side did earn the unofficial title of having the best home form in the league, however, lost more games in the 2022/23 season than they did the season before, despite playing eight games less.

Clydebank lost three more games than they did the season before but Moff believes that is due to how hard-fought the league has become.

Speaking to the Clydebank Post, he said: “There’s been quite a lot of improvement this year, you could stand back and look at it and say we lost more games this season than we did last but if you look at everybody’s draw and defeat column it is a wee bit all over the place because of how competitive the league is.

“I’m disappointed with the amount of games that we lost and that’s something for us to try and improve on for next year but from a coaching perspective we have seen good progress and I think the boys see that and feel that as well in terms of our style of play and identity.

“Overall I am pretty happy but there are some frustrations in there as well.”

Moff has remained busy when it comes to recruiting for next season with another new face through the door at Holm Park and one of last season's marquee signings agreeing to stay at the club.

Local lad James Grant arrives from Broomhill and has a connection with the Bankies through his uncle Stevie McLaren, former chairman and lifelong supporter.

Nicky Low has also extended his stay at Clydebank for another season after penning a one-year extension.

The former Aberdeen man joined the club in February and signed a deal until the end of last season but is now set to play his football in Clydebank colours for another year.

Elsewhere, Yoker Athletic boss Gordon Robertson hopes to make his moves in the transfer market quickly after their league season came to an end last weekend.

The Whe Ho signed off with a 3-2 win at Forth Wanderers to earn them a sixth-place finish in the Second Division and Robertson was quick to meet with his squad to discuss the upcoming campaign.

He told the Post: “We had the players in for contract talks last week ahead of next season.

“I’ve had reasonably positive chats with all of the guys but after our chats, I’ll have a clearer idea of what areas we need to strengthen and I’ve already spoken to some players from other clubs that I like and I think could help us.

“We know we’ve got a period of a few weeks where there is always a little bit of uncertainty about what players are available so we’ll see how it goes.”
