Clydebank gaffer Gordon Moffat insists signing Nicky Low for the season ahead is 'huge' for the club.

Midfielder Low has agreed a new deal that will keep him at Holm Park for the upcoming West of Scotland Premier Division season.

The ex-Aberdeen, Dundee and Arbroath player joined the Bankies in February having previously been on loan at Kelty Hearts from the Gayfield side.

Low has impressed in his short spell at Clydebank, making 16 appearances and getting on the scoresheet once.

And the Bankies' boss couldn't hide his delight at wrapping up the deal and fending off the interest of other clubs.

He told the Clydebank Post: “A huge signing for us.

"He'd helped us out for a few months towards the end of this season which, to be honest, we all probably thought that's all it would be.

"So, with the offers he had on the table, I'm obviously delighted he has decided to stay with us.

"I think he'll be a huge part of what we're trying to do next season."

The 31-year-old Low expressed he enjoyed his initial spell at Holm Park and admits despite being one of the oldest in the dressing room he still feels young at heart.

Speaking to club media announcing the news of his signing, Low said: “When you come here, it just feels like a home.

"We have a really close-knit changing room and it’s just so welcoming. My family have been to a few games, and just things like my daughter getting ice lollies, it just makes you want to be here.

“Sadly I’m one of the older boys now, so I feel like I can go and help next season.

"I still think I’m about 18 and then I realise that was a good few years ago now, but hopefully with my experience and the level I have played at I can help out.”

Low becomes boss Gordon Moffat's fourth summer signing following the additions of James Grant, Callum Graham and Thomas Collins as he looks to build a platform to improve on last season's fourth-place finish and West Cup final appearance.

And the manager believes the club will only see benefits from the signing news.

He finished: "He’ll suit our style of play, particularly at home, so delighted to have a player of that calibre join us for the whole season.

"He'll help us make a push to hopefully go on to the next steps of what we want to achieve next year. "
