Clydebank manager Kieran McAnespie believes his side can make the new Holm Park a ‘fortress’ as they prepare to kick-off the new season.

With friendlies lined up against Yoker Athletic, St Roch’s, Broxburn Athletic and Gartcairn Juniors next month, Bankies are set to return to the newly-redeveloped Holm Park in the coming weeks having spent the entirety of the 2018/2019 season ground sharing with Maryhill FC at Lochburn Park.

The gaffer said: “It’s a really nice complex and seeing the amount of hard work everyone is doing around the ground is excellent.

“The potential in it is phenomenal, so it’s nice to come down and see the progress as well as getting the chance to take a seat in the new dugout.

“It’s going to be great to have the ability to train here. We really need to look at turning this place into our fortress to win as many games as we can. We were quite successful here before when it was the grass pitch, and ultimately we’ll look to try and play that attacking football again that wasn’t so easy last year.

“Just having it as a hub, especially for the growing academy set up, is exciting. We won’t need to carry balls or kit, so we’re relishing having a base and a place to call home permanently.”

Elsewhere, McAnespie has been hard at work bolstering his squad with the club confirming the arrival of Jordan Kennedy from Petershill and Paul Byrne from Hurlford Thistle over the weekend.

Speaking after giving his first signings of the summer a tour of the new Holm Park, McAnespie added: “We’ve managed to bring in Jordan and Paul who are excellent players and real coups for the club.

“They’ll fit right into the style of play we’ve tried to install in the boys. Jordan will bring a real bit of pace to the defence and Paul has a lot of quality on the ball so we’re looking forward to getting to work with them both.”
