Clydebank Synchronised Swimming Club rounded off 2018 with medal success at the Scottish Club Championships in Bellshill last weekend.

Fresh from their impressive medal haul at the Scottish National Championships back in November, the club entered a record 24 swimmers from beginners to masters to compete at the championships, finishing with five medals overall including a gold in the team combination event.

First up, Kirsten McEwan finished second in a tough category to win silver in the solo event with teammate Tabitha Steven just missing out on a medal, finishing fourth.

Tabitha put that disappointment behind her quickly, however, as she teamed up with Gabriella Smart to win bronze in the duet event.

Tabitha and Gabriella then teamed up with Lana Wallace, Amy Lind and Charlotte Cavanagh in the team event to win another impressive bronze.

Carmel Connelly and Chloe Burns then joined Tabitha, Gabriella and Kirsten in the combination team event to win a fantastic gold to round off the competition.

In the Masters solo event, Sophia Bech Mannagatta performed excellently to win the Margaret Houston Trophy.

A club spokeswoman said: “Well done to all of our swimmers for their continued hard work and commitment.”
