I don’t care what other defences, European or otherwise, that Odsonne Edouard comes up against this season he will not have a tougher time of it than he did against Livingston on Sunday.

He will not be bashed around by any other defence the way he was against Livvy and there be no bigger physical challenge for him this season.

He was pushed and harried the entire game and he just could not get a foothold in the encounter. Livingston are formidable on their own turf and it is always difficult on the back of a big European night to go into a game like that.

I thought Livvy were worthy of their point and Celtic will not be the last team to drop points at the Tony Macaroni Arena this term.

But they are back at the top of the league and that is exactly where you would expect them to stay from here on in.

The only real cause of consternation was for Kristoffer Ajer. He is a handsome big lad and I fear his looks might have taken a dent! In all seriousness, it was a nasty accident but I don’t think there was any malice in it.

It was a genuine accident and I feel sorry for the kid because he had just come back into the team after a hamstring injury. He is another player whom I think has a lot to offer and in glimpses he has shown that he really does have something about him as a defender.

He is only 20 so still has so much to learn about the game but it will be frustrating for him now to be looking at another lengthy spell on the sidelines. I am sure he could wear a mask to offer some protection but you wouldn’t want him near a pitch unless he is absolutely 100% because it is too serious an injury for any messing about.
