Six local teams kicked off the Thursday Night Futsal League with a night of top Futsal action at Drumchapel High School recently.

The Disability Futsal Club in Clydebank has four teams - Glasgow Red, Glasgow Blue, Glasgow Yellow and Glasgow Green and they are joined in the league by Duntocher and Clydebank.

Duntocher beat Glasgow Green by 13 goals to nine, Glasgow Yellow saw off Glasgow Blue 15-3 and Glasgow Red started with a resounding 17-6 win over Clydebank.

Futsal is a variant of football played indoors on a hard court with both smaller goals and a smaller ball. All matches are played at Drumchapel High School every Thursday from 6pm to 9pm and spectators are welcome.

Support worker and Disability Futsal Club founder Jason Methven said: “We just started our league campaign last Thursday and have a six team league catering for 42 adults with a range of disabilities. We want the guys to help run teams, coach them and captain them. It’s all empowering.

“It’s great fun and an absolute delight to watch our players get out of the house and help them with their social, physical and emotional needs. It’s a fantastic thing. We are blown away by what has happened so far in such a short space of time. As we always say at the club - the future’s bright, the future’s futsal.”
