Yoker Boss Maurice George lamented another disappointing result as his side were left languishing at the bottom of the table after a narrow 2-1 away loss to East Kilbride Thistle on Saturday.

The Whe Ho boss also hit out at the ref for spoiling a drab affair at Showpark, which saw Thistle’s 74th minute winner cancel out Steven Howie’s slick second-half equaliser.

He said: “We’re finding it hard to get a win, but the boys stuck at it and we were just unlucky not to come away with three points.

“I don’t want to go on about the ref too much, but the standard was absolutely shocking for both teams - he ruined the game.’

The defeat is Yoker’s fifth in a row since their opening day win, but they remain within touching distance of those above them, with the chance to kick on against second from bottom Lugar Boswell Thistle at Holm Park this Saturday.

George added: “We’re still confident, boys are coming back from injuries and we are starting to get a squad again. They’re improving every week and, hopefully, we can get three points and start climbing because we don’t want a gap forming.”
