DRUMCHAPEL Amateurs have added another trophy to their collection after the club’s 2004s side won the Glasgow and District Youth Football League at the first time of asking.

The Drum have consistently been the top team in the Under-14s league this season and clinched the title in a style that they have displayed throughout the campaign, as they beat local rivals Renton 5-1 away from home.

With the Drumchapel side playing with confidence and assurance despite the high stakes, they comfortably took the three points they needed thanks to a brace scored by Abraham Osemeke, and goals scored by Lorcan Deeley, Sam Murdoch and Shaun McNulty.

Drumchapel Amateurs 2004s coach Andy Murdoch said: ‘It really is a fantastic achievement at the end of a season where we also reached the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup.

‘The boys have been brilliant all season and thoroughly deserve to be champions.’

Drumchapel Amateurs: Daniel Lilley, Callum McLaughlin, Josh Shaw, Seamus Duggan, McKenzie Harkin, Patrick Shiels, Lorcan Deeley, Ethan McGuire. Sam Murdoch, Shaun McNulty, Thomas Muldoon, Luke Chandler, Abraham Osemeke, Adam Smith, Oliver Grey, Josh Watson.

In other club news, younger players will be taking part in Drumchapel Amateurs fifth annual Football Festival this weekend. The club is set to welcome over 500 children to their home at Glenhead Park for the event, which is set to be a family fun filled day with some great football on display.

Club secretary Laura Stewart said: “We are excited about the festival. Each year it brings a variety of players from all areas and each team brings their own army of supporters.

“We have been very lucky this year in that Joe Walker’s Flooring have sponsored the event, as have some of the directors of the club.

“The sponsorship has been a massive asset to the event and allow us to enhance the festival.”
