It’s a bit of a strange time just now.

We are all being careful and staying away from people due to the Covid-19 coronavirus but what does this mean for Hallowe’en and Guy Fawkes night?

We need to be able to have things as normal as possible to give our mental health a wee boost but we also need to stay safe.

So, with that in mind let’s do Hallowe’en.

How about we get dressed up and go for a walk in family groups this Hallowe’en and spot all the decorations?

Also how about we decorate our houses and gardens by putting pumpkins and scary decorations in our windows to delight the children?

Then we could go back home and heat up with a lovely warming mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and all the trimmings.

Please do not knock on any doors though as that increases the risks.

Thanks to G15 Youth Group and Drumchapel Thriving Places for their Hallowe’en in the Hoose Goody Bags that will get handed out on the night to your door.

These include free popcorn for all the family.

There will also be a YouTube video link that will be posted on the G15 Youth Project Facebook page on Hallowe’en night too.

That could be something for you to watch while enjoying your hot chocolate.

Enjoy yourselves and stay safe.

It is really disappointing that there are no firework displays this year as we can’t gather in crowds.

If you are buying fireworks please use them safely.

Please consider animals and children with your fireworks and stop your displays at a suitable time so you don’t disturb people when they are trying to sleep.

In previous years, there has been anti-social behaviour that has caused a lot of stress and fear in our community.

We have to not let this happen this year.

Nobody wants anyone to get hurt as fireworks can cause horrible injuries and sometimes even lead to death.

Can all parents and guardians please make sure they know where their teenagers and young people are so they can make sure they are not involved in the anti-social behaviour and that they stay safe and well.

If you are worried about firework misuse or rogue bonfires, please phone the police and fire service for them to come and make them safe.
