I HOPE that you are well, and that you are all coping with these exceptional times.

It is encouraging that some lockdown restrictions are being slowly and carefully lifted allowing us to get back to some sense of normality.

These are very difficult times and it is important that we are resolute in following the guidance to avoid a second wave of this pandemic.

The response by our communities to this pandemic has been phenomenal. We see that community spirit is alive and well.

So many selfless individuals are volunteering their time and energy to help our most vulnerable. I thank you all for everything you do and for your commitment to our area.

I would also like to thank all the food banks operating throughout Clydebank and the surrounding area; I have seen first hand the time and effort that is put in by all who volunteer.

I am happy to report that the Centre 81 Foodbank received a welcomed boost of £53,000 from the Scottish Government’s Wellbeing Fund, which will help supply much needed food parcels, packed lunches and activity packs to the local community.

A special thanks to our key workers who have put themselves in the front line whilst working during this unprecedented crisis.

It is fitting that we celebrated the 72nd anniversary of our exceptional NHS at the weekend; we are extremely indebted to this service, especially in these challenging times.

Meanwhile, the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice team are also celebrating an anniversary. Congratulations and gratitude to Sister Rita and all at the hospice for providing an outstanding service to our community for the last 70 years.

So many people have been touched by the care given to those close to them during their time of greatest need.

I am sure I can speak on behalf of the community that we thank them for all that they have done, and wish them well for the coming years ahead.

I am immensely proud that we have this centre of excellence on our doorstep.

I know that you will all continue to look after one another as part of our strong and caring community.

I can assure you that I will continue to strive to deliver the best possible responsive and focused council services that will assist those in greatest need during these challenging times.
