It’s been three months since I wrote my last column for the Post (I missed sending in the last one as I had got caught up by the workload generated by the local preparations for the lockdown we are currently in).

I’m finding the old adage about time flying is certainly appropriate.

Here we are, seven weeks into the Covid-19 lockdown, and although we know we are doing the right thing it is nothing if not hard to be separated from one’s family and friends.

Even though some of us can use social media to see their faces now and then, we all know it’s not the same.

And even more tragically some of us will have lost dear family members to this insidious virus.

To anyone that has, please except my most sincere condolences to you and yours.

OPINION Bill Kidd MSP: Continuing to campaign against Brexit

Of the office work, both in parliament and in the constituency, nearly all of it is being done remotely.

I have only been in parliament itself one day per week so far, although that has gone up to two days from the start of May.

My staff and I are all working from home and communicating via phone, email or whichever video link they are getting the best reception from, but just to be clear we are still here to deal with all of your enquiries so please do get in touch if you feel that we can be of some assistance.

It would be remiss of me to end this column without noting the passing of the Drumchapel businessman John Oliver, who sadly died at the end of April.

John had the most positive influence in the greater Drumchapel area over a long number of years, on far too many people and causes to list.

He will be sorely missed by everyone but, as you would expect, none more so than by his loving family. RIP John.

Lastly to you and yours, please continue to “stay home, stay safe and help save the NHS”.
