I HOPE you have all had a great summer and managed to experience the intermittent good weather.

I had a busy July with events including the Queen’s Garden party at Holyrood, the Dumbarton Police Open Day, Whitecrook Gala Day, lots of anniversaries and a 100th birthday.

I also enjoyed a few days away to visit some family during the council recess. But it’s now very much business as usual once again with a packed calendar ahead.

At the weekend, I was delighted to host a civic reception for the Reverend Margaret Yule who has dedicated 27 years of her life to the people of Clydebank through her time at the helm of Radnor Park and Kilbowie St Andrews Churches.

I wish Rev Yule a very long, happy and healthy retirement.

Our committee and council meetings have recommenced and last week councillors were updated on the council’s programme of new house builds in Clydebank and across West Dunbartonshire.

In Clydebank, this includes developments at Clydebank East, Queens Quay and the former St Andrew’s High School site.

Today, Wednesday, the infrastructure and regeneration committee will consider proposals to invest funding to improve Clydebank, Dumbarton and Alexandria town centres.

As Provost, I have had the privilege of visiting a number of our community groups and meeting many of our residents.

Our people are what makes our area great and I’m humbled by the stories I hear of the many residents who go above and beyond to help others in their community.

Next week, I’ll host the Provost Civic Awards which provides an opportunity for those special people in our community to get the recognition they deserve.

Every year we get a fantastic response from residents with nominations pouring in for every category and, yet again, it has left me with a very difficult job to choose the winners in each category.

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate someone for an award. Good luck to all the nominees who are all worthy winners, in my eyes.
