Happy holidays - summer is here and schools are out for the next six weeks.

Here’s hoping that the weather will stay fair and that folk are able to get away to recharge their batteries and spend some quality time with their nearest and dearest.

Many are fortunate enough to travel abroad or get down the coast for a few days for some rest and relaxation, but for some folk, that holiday might only be a dream and getting a holiday is probably just too out of reach.

Thankfully we are blessed with having organisations that will help folk make this a reality.

I commend the work done by Clydebank Group Holiday, who provides holidays for those on low incomes by sending them for a week to their caravan down at Sandylands Holiday Park. The only stipulation is that a small fee is charged to enable the group to meet costs.

The work of this organisation is invaluable and I would like to publicly thank all the officer bearers and committee for their service to the community and all their hard work throughout the year, for managing the project and fundraising to raise the much needed funds.

There are still a few weeks available for anyone who is interested and meets the criteria.

If interested, please contact Margaret Campbell at Clydebank Group Holidays.

It also wouldn’t be summer if we didn’t have our community gala days and garden fetes to keep us busy.

It is so lovely to see that community spirit is still very much alive in our communities.

Just a wee reminder that the 11th Whitecrook Gala is on August 3, from 12-4pm at Centre81, Braes Avenue, Clydebank.

All fairground rides for children and teenagers are free, so come along for some food, stalls and great entertainment and a chance to see the community council and Clydebank Housing Association join forces to put on a great day for the community that they serve.

I recently attended Clydebank Housing Association’s 34th annual general meeting, congratulations to the association for serving the community for the last 34 years, and providing much needed social housing.

Enjoy the summer everyone.
