I HOPE you are all enjoying the summer so far.

I’ve been enjoying a wide variety of events which have shown how much West Dunbartonshire really shines, whatever the weather.

I was delighted to be invited along to the Amazing Things awards at Clydebank Town Hall, which gives school pupils across West Dunbartonshire the chance to display the projects they have been working on throughout the year.

I have to say, I was very impressed with the standard of work, and it was great to see how proud the children were, as well as hear the inspiring stories behind each project.

A big congratulations must go to everybody who took part.

I also got the opportunity to attend the West Dunbartonshire Pro-Am at Dalmuir Golf Course.

This popular tournament was again very well supported by teams who played on the day. Congratulations to the winning team who performed exceptionally well and thoroughly deserved their win.

It was an honour to be at the official opening of Levengrove Park Pavillion and Training Suite, which is such a worthwhile project.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the benefits it is bringing not only to residents who make use of its cafe, but to the people who are undergoing training in the learning suite and gaining vital skills which will last them a lifetime.

The addition of these facilities has undoubtedly increased numbers using the park, which means the economic benefits for West Dunbartonshire are evident.

Last weekend, I was proud to be part of West Dunbartonshire Council’s celebration of our military community as part of the worldwide Armed Forces Day.

The bravery and dedication of the armed forces personnel in our area, both veterans and those currently serving, deserves to be recognised.

The service afterwards, led by the Reverend Ian Johnson of Dumbarton Riverside Church, West Kirk and St Andrew’s Church, was emotional and a reminder of the selfless work military personnel undertake every day.

I was delighted to see so many faces congregate in Dumbarton to show them how proud and grateful we all are.
