It IS incredibly important that you vote and have your say. We have the European Parliament election coming up on May 23 and this election is just as important as any other.

Britain will remain a member of the European Union until at least the end of October while the parties at Westminster argue over what is the best way forward.

So, while we are still part of the European Union we should still be able to have our vote and have our say.

If we don’t elect Members to sit in the European Parliament to represent our views then we have no say.

Also, I think we should be very mindful of how lucky we are to be allowed to vote how we choose to vote because a lot of battles had to be fought and won in order for us to be a democratic country where everyone can vote.

This is another reason why we should all go to the polls and put our cross in a ballot paper box on May 23.

There are a couple of community events coming up I would like to share. Firstly, there is an Active Seniors Day in the Park on June 11 in Victoria Park.

This event will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm and is always a fantastic event. There is always lots going on at this event and you get lunch and it is free.

Then, on July 20, there is “D in the Park” in Drumchapel Park. This is also a fantastic free event involving lots of local groups.

This is an event that is organised every two years and is always a brilliant event to take your children to for a summer day out.

There will be lots more on across Ward 14 and across Glasgow which I will advertise on my facebook page so follow Elspeth Kerr for Drumchapel/Anniesland to keep up and, hopefully, keep the children amused during the long holiday.
