Perhaps it is not surprising that the latest Scottish Chambers quarterly economic indicator survey for Q1 of 2019 shows the health of the Scottish economy weakened considerably.

With the cloud of Brexit hanging over the UK economy and global insecurity there is an immediate urgency to deal with Brexit – the uncertainty around which is harming our ability to compete on the international stage, hitting confidence, stifling investment, increasing costs and hampering recruitment.

The survey does also highlight the resilience of Scottish businesses and their resolve to stay focused on creating jobs and paying taxes to fund vital public services.

We are immensely proud at the Chamber of the valuable contribution that our private sector businesses make to the local and national economies. That is why we are committed to helping strengthen the Dunbartonshire economy by supporting businesses to build resilience and help them thrive. We are involved at a variety of levels in skills and workforce development, international trade and lobbying and representation.

Through our Chamber Academy we provide businesses with the training and knowledge to increase productivity and grow. We now also have a bank of experts whose knowledge and expertise we are sharing with the business community which we have worked hard to build through our ongoing series of networking events – we are currently attracting around 100 delegates a month to attend our busy programme of events.
