by Councillor Elspeth Kerr

What a first year as a councillor – it has gone by in a flash.

It has been incredibly busy but I have enjoyed every minute. There have been highs and lows and a great deal of frustration but sorting out things that affect all of our lives has made my work worthwhile.

Please continue to contact me with anything I can help with.

I am so impressed by our young people. They are amazing. It’s nearly summer and they have all be working so hard and really deserve to have a break now.

They have survived the pressures of learning and the stress of sitting exams and are now putting on shows that they have been working incredibly hard on over the whole year.

I have been following on Twitter and watched the work the pupils of Drumchapel High School have put into their first school show in 20 years. They have worked to put on the musical Grease. I have had the honour of attending the show on Thursday, June 14 and it was brilliant.

These young performers put everything into it. The talent shone out of each and every one of them.

Joanne Sturgeon, the head teacher, announced at the end that they hope to make the school show a yearly tradition from now on.

I hope they do as you could tell how much the young people were enjoying themselves and how much the audience enjoyed the show and I think a show is a great way to end the school year.

I want to thank all our teachers who have been working incredibly hard this year, as always, and are currently preparing the children and young people for moving on to the next school year. I hope you all enjoy your well-deserved holiday time over the summer.

Recess starts at the end of June but I will still be working, answering emails and sorting out issues for people so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
