I have been working with Blairdardie and Old Drumchapel Community Council on the concerning safety issues around the traffic at Blairdardie Primary.

This has been an issue for a lot of years and there are ongoing meetings to see how we can make the area safer for families and school children to be able to walk to school.

The bin roll-out programme has reached Blairdardie but not without its issues. I am currently working with local people and the community council and land and environmental services to try to resolve the issues and make this feasible as we really want this to work.

High Knightswood and Anniesland Community Council are currently looking for new members. If you would like to get involved in what goes on in the area please contact Lawrence.oneill@glasgow.gov.uk or phone 0141 287 4109.

HKA Community Council is a really active group of local people and there is loads to get involved in. They run a Winter Market every year where there are market stalls and activities including the childen’s choir and Santa. They also do regular community clean ups and more. They recently ran a mapping exercise of what groups and activities are on in the area. If you want to find out more about these please attend a community council meeting, at 6.30pm on the second last Tuesday of the month.

I have also been working alongside Drumchapel Community Council and the roads department to address the ongoing parking and traffic issues along Heathcote Avenue and Glenkirk Drive. A map has been given to the community council in order to mark out all the issues with roads with a view to trying to make it safer for everyone. If you know of more places that need attention please get in touch with myself or the community council.

I have been working to get a number of street signs replaced as they are too faded to see what is on them anymore. If your street sign is really faded could you please send me a picture of it via email along with the name of the street and I will add it to the list.

Anything else I can help with, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
