The first Scottish branch of The Alchemist opens in Edinburgh on Friday, bringing their mystical mixology to the capital.

It joins venues in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Cheltenham, Oxford, Nottingham and Cardiff, giving Scots the opportunity to get a taste of the immersive experience slightly closer to home.

Describing itself as "Home to masters in the dark arts of molecular mixology", the chain invites customers to  "step into our world of theatre served".

Drinks arrive foaming, steaming and smoking in glasses shaped like test tubes or with bubbles balancing on the top.
