A MAN has been repeatedly stabbed in an attempted murder near Glasgow.

Police Scotland said the 45-year-old male victim flagged down a car and asked for help on Braeside Place in Cambuslang late last night (Thursday).

Emergency services attended after he asked for help at 10.20pm and the man was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment to a number of stab wounds.

Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

The incident is now being treated as attempted murder.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective inspector Alan McDonald, from Cambuslang CID, said: “Enquiries are at a very early stage to establish what has happened - it is vital that anyone with information comes forward.

“The attack may have taken place in a property nearby, with the victim then coming out into the street for help, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Braeside Place, who saw or heard anything at all suspicious to please get in touch.

“Additional patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public, and I would urge anyone with information or concerns to approach the officers on patrol who will be happy to assist.”
