THESE are the stunning up close pictures of a posing stag captured by an amateur photographer from Glasgow in the Scottish Highlands.

Steve Green, 51, was on a road trip with his daughter Georgia, 21, last week when the pair came across the majestic creature.

The engineer had a day off last Thursday (Nov 8) and decided to take a trip up to Glen Etive in the Highlands.

The area is around 90 miles from Glasgow and is known for its thriving wild deer population.

Dad Steve spotted the stag with a herd of around 12 deer but managed to get close enough to snap the amazing pictures.

Steve said: "I've lived in Glasgow for 23 years but never even up that way.

"I had a day off work and decided to take a trip.

"We wanted to take the Glen Coe chairlift but it was closed so we took a drive along to Glen Etive - it's absolutely stunning.

"We just came to the corner of a bend and then there was one big stag with about 12 deer."

Steve had to be sure to keep his distance from the stag which was protecting its herd but admitted: "I've never been that close to a stag before.

"We just felt we got very lucky and we will remember it for a long time - it might never happen again."
