A DALMUIR knitting group is hoping to brighten the day of passers-by with their latest creation.

Maggie’s Yarn Buddies, based at the Big Disability Group hub on Dumbarton Road, have worked hard over the past few weeks to finalise a stunning summer-themed post-box topper.

The new topper features a variety of knitted items including sea creatures, a palm tree, the ocean, and a woman sunbathing.

Eagle-eyed Bankies will also spot a nod to the group with a small knitting bag propped up against the palm tree.

The knit and natter group’s post box toppers have become a staple in the area with a new one popping up every couple of months.

Margaret Reid, founder of Maggie’s Yarn Buddies, told the Post that she made the first two herself – one for Remembrance Day and another for Christmas last year.

The most recent topper was a spring-themed one which was installed back in March.

It was the group’s first collaborative project and took nearly six weeks to complete.
