AN art group has praised the creativity of the community’s kids after they received over 300 entries for their design competition.

Faifley Art Group say they were amazed at the variety and imagination in submissions to their annual Primary School Arts Competition as they announced the winners.

The group – which started in the area over 35 years ago – has been running the artistic event for more than a decade and puts it out to primary four and five pupils at nearby Carleith, Edinbarnet, Goldenhill, St Joesph’s, St Mary’s and Kilpatrick primary schools.

Morag Daly, who has been part of the group that meet in the Skypoint Centre every Wednesday for the last 10 years, thanked the kids for once again showcasing their talents.

She told the Post: “The quality was excellent. The quality is always good. The imagination is absolutely brilliant, what’s in kids’ minds, they are always coming up with something different.”

The competition – which had a King’s Coronation theme this year - is backed in sponsorship by Astute Books Glasgow West, Caledonia Housing Association Ltd, Knowes Housing Association Ltd, The Glasgow Stove Company and The Rotary Club of Clydebank.

Morag added: “We always give them a topic. This year was the coronation.

“We weren’t really sure how that would go if the young folk would understand what that was, but there was quite a variety.”
