A man has been fined for the "one-off" abuse of his ex-partner.

Declan Newlands, of Low Waters Road, Hamilton, previously pleaded guilty to an incident at a property in Clydebank on April 25 this year.

The 30-year-old admitted shouting, swearing, behaving in an aggressive manner, uttering derogatory remarks towards his ex and uttering threats of violence.

The crime was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.

He returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on October 27 for sentencing.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Paul said: "I think this is just a one-off."

Sheriff Lorna Anderson said there was a criminal record but it was of "some age" and was not related to domestic abuse.

She fined him £400, plus a victim surcharge of £20.

He is banned from contact with the woman for 12 months.
