An e-scooter user has been charged, and the vehicle impounded, in a wider police crackdown across West Dunbartonshire.

The owner was charged with various road traffic offences and issued a legal notice after the scooter was seized on Sunday, September 13.

This comes as part of a wider crackdown, with police announcing that they are running a monthly action plan to target illegal electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs) and e-scooters across West Dunbartonshire.

The authority is reminding people that it is illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter in a public place.

This includes roads, pavements, parks, town centres, and promenades, as these vehicles in these areas do not meet legal standards.

The only area a privately owned e-scooter can be used is on private land if granted permission from the land owner.
