A new development plan is in the works for Queens Quay with hundreds of properties proposed for the area.

The developers, Keepmoat Homes Ltd, held their second public consultation event on August 20, which the Clydebank Post attended, before a planning application detailing approximately 240 homes is put forward to the council.

The plan, situated in the wider Queens Quay regeneration area, covers plots one to five and includes a mixture of two and three-storey homes as well as blocks of flats.

Keepmoat Homes Ltd is a partnership housebuilder that prides itself on delivering affordable housing across Scotland. They target first-time buyers and second movers.

Representatives said that the end goal is to connect these homes and flats up to the district heating system, which is the Queens Quay heat pump that generates renewable energy from the River Clyde.

The heat pump is part of a wider push to increase decarbonised heat in Scotland.

The development complex looks to create a "walkable, river-focused residential neighbourhood" that prioritises people, movement and landscape, with the properties framed to overlook the Titan crane.

The plans are scheduled to be submitted to the council in September, and the developer is already in discussions with officials regarding the proposal.

In relation to their timeline, if the application is approved, the first homes are set to be built in winter 2027.

Tim Metcalfe, regional managing director at Keepmoat, Scotland said: “We’re pleased to be involved with one of the most exciting regeneration sites in Scotland as plans progress in Clydebank.

“As a specialist in brownfield regeneration, Keepmoat is passionate about transforming previously developed land into thriving new neighbourhoods and Queens Quay represents a unique opportunity to play a role in the ongoing regeneration of one of Scotland’s most iconic waterfront locations.

“Our proposal has been designed to help meet local housing demand and we look forward to engaging with local stakeholders as the plans develop further ahead of a formal planning application later this year.”
