£100,000 worth of funding could be lost for the refurbishment of a community hub after stalled building repairs.
The community group, Flourishing Faifley was recently awarded the money from the Pride and Place Fund, with the plan being to use this cash for refurbishment after ongoing repairs are completed to their Pavilion on Middle Ward Street.
However, there have been delays by the contractors regarding ongoing work.
In Wednesday’s council meeting, Councillor William Rooney, raised the issue.
He said: "This is an Immediate Impact Fund and the money has to be spent within this financial year.
“This has been dragging on, and the contractors really need to sort it out.
“This is extremely urgent for the group because if the Pride in Place funding is not spent, it will be lost, and Faifley desperately needs this community hub.”
In response Michelle Lynn, assets manager, said: "We are proactively working with the contractors to try and resolve any outstanding issues, whether they are technical or administrative.
“Our primary focus is to clear these hurdles for the group as quickly as possible so they can successfully progress with the planned refurbishment.
“We will work closely with the group over the coming months to ensure that we can help as much as we possibly can to ensure this happens.”

This comes after the newly built Faifley Community Campus opened to pupils from Edinbarnet and St Joseph's Primary Schools in October last year. The contractors building the new school, Hub West and Morrison Construction, agreed to restore the Faifley Pavilion to transform the site into a thriving community hub.
West Dunbartonshire Council, who worked closely with them to fix the roof, removed the asbestos and completed the appropriate building warrants, have continually raised concerns over stalling from the contractors.
Contractors Hub West and Morrison Construction have been contacted for comment.
