Neighbours have raised concerns that a proposed 'Airbnb' in Clydebank could become a 'party let' due to its close proximity to pubs and bars.

An application to turn a property on Cunard Court into a short term let has been met with anger from locals who fear it would "not be good" for the area.

The proposal which has been submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council's Licencing Committee is set to be reviewed after an objection letter countersigned by 15 residents called for the application to be rejected.

The letter reads: "With regard to the application regarding above that has been displayed on the applicants kitchen window which no-one would have read if an attending Letting Agent did not tell a neighbour that this property may be getting used as an Airbnb.

"Please be advised in area like Clydebank, close to the main local pubs and a club, letting this as an Airbnb would undoubtedly result in the property becoming a ‘party let’.

"Crucially, enclosed is the title deeds for the properties in our area which states it cannot be used for business activity. This would definitely not be good for our area/residents in our small estate.

"Therefore, I and others in our estate object to this home sharing/home letting."

Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Environmental Health Scotland have all confirmed they don't have any concerns to raise about the plans.

The council's planning department has advised that a further planning application to change the use of the property from a flat to a short term let would be required on top of the licence.

The application will be decided on June 3.
