A local mental health charity has announced an open public consultation as they claim to face potential future budget cuts.
Stepping Stones relies on funding from West Dunbartonshire Council where they provide group services, person-centred counselling, 1:1 support, and cognitive behavioural therapy-based guided self-help.
The basis of their support revolves around people who suffer from depression, anxiety, and stress.

Bronwyn O’Riordan, Stepping Stones chief officer, said: “Stepping Stones has never been needed more, I am incredibly proud of the work and outcomes delivered by our amazing team, and I know that our organisation will do everything it can to achieve a better future for people with mental health issues.”
Due to country-wide budget cuts, there are worries that funding for mental health services could be impacted. This would affect existing users of Stepping Stones and those who may need their services in the future.
Stepping Stones has opened the consultation to the public so that everyone can have their voice heard with councillors and stakeholders present.
Bronwyn added: “Budget cuts to such a vital service, is in my opinion a disgrace, our community deserve better and I genuinely hope to see the local council continue their commitment and support of Stepping Stones.
"The reality is that if the cuts are as deep as anticipated, and should the next commissioned service contract not be awarded to Stepping Stones, then we would struggle to keep our doors open, and West Dunbartonshire could lose a provider who has supported tens of thousands of people over the last 35 years.”
A spokesperson for West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership said: "We value the services and support provided by Stepping Stones and there are no proposed reductions to their funding."
The public consultation will be held on Friday, June, 12 at 1.30pm at the Waterfront Parish Church, Clydebank.
