Drivers in parts of West Dunbartonshire will soon be slowing down as new 20mph zones are rolled out in key neighbourhoods in a bid to boost road safety and respond to calls from local communities.
West Dunbartonshire Council's roads department has identified areas that could benefit from reduced speed limits, prioritising locations where residents have requested slower speeds.
The proposals were presented to the Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development Committee, which approved the launch of Traffic Regulation Orders to implement the changes.

The first areas to adopt the new limits include Alexandria North, Bellsmyre and the surrounding area, Bonhill and Haldane, Bowling and Old Kilpatrick, Linnvale, Milton, and Silverton.
Speed surveys were carried out by the Roads and Transportation Team, and a statutory consultation took place at the end of last year.
Analysis from the Department for Transport suggests a two-mile journey in a 20mph zone is less than 30 seconds longer than at 30mph, and less than a minute longer over five miles.
