Holidaymakers have been warned as all restaurants, shops and cafes in Egypt will close at 9pm.
The urgent measure, introduced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, will come into effect on Saturday, March 28 and mean that venues, including shopping centres, will have to shut at 9pm local time or 10pm on Fridays.
It is set to last a month.
The curfew aims to "rationalise energy consumption in light of current challenges and to ensure resource sustainability amid the ongoing regional war and its global repercussions" according to the State Information Service.
Advertising lights will also be switched off and street lights will be lowered to their minimum levels in line with safety standards.
The government is also considering introducing two working-from-home days where possible.
From Glasgow Airport, Glaswegians can fly to several Egyptioan cities, including Cairo, Giza and Alexandria.
On March 8, the Foreign Office outlined that there is a “heightened risk of regional tension” and “escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts" and added that "British nationals should take sensible precautions, considering their own individual circumstances.”
