A MAN followed through on his threats to "smash this place up" when he kicked off at his partner.

Alcohol-fuelled Stuart Hoben accused the woman of cheating on him in the clash that saw him end up in court.

And even when ordered not to contact her, the 21-year-old ended up in another argument with her.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court was told on March 17 that around 10.10pm on April 8 last year, the woman returned to her home in Clydebank after finishing work.

She found Hoben, of Whiteford Avenue, Dumbarton, in the property, intoxicated. He was asked to leave and became hostile.

He accused her of cheating on him and started to shout and swear.

"You're a slag and I'm going to smash this place up," he said.

Hoben went into the kitchen and began pulling out doors and drawers, breaking one of the drawer fronts.

Again he was asked to leave, and did, with the door locked behind him. He then kicked the front door, breaking the lock. He continued to shout and swear before leaving.

Police arrested him a short time later.

He was granted bail by the court a couple weeks later.

Then on May 11, police got an anonymous report of an ongoing disturbance at 4.40am from the same Clydebank property.

Police arrived and spoke to the woman but she refused to provide a statement. She did, however, confirm she was in contact with Hoben. CCTV found him entering the property in breach of bail.

He was arrested at 5am.

Hoben pleaded guilty to the events of April 23 and the May 11 bail breach. Both were aggravated by being against a partner or ex.

Defence solicitor Scott Adair said there had been "no difficulties" between the couple since. He had gone to her property in May "at her invitation".

"The parties do remain together and families remain supportive of the two of them," he added. He said alcohol was "obviously a factor".

Sheriff Mark Moir KC put Hoben on a structured deferred sentence for six months where social workers will work with him.
