A WOMAN has been warned there may be no alternative to returning her behind bars for being caught again with a weapon.

Elizabeth Brady, who still has a period in prison left to expire, pleaded guilty to having a knife in a Clydebank shop.

CCTV caught her lifting her jumper to reveal the blade in the Co-op on Kilbowie Road on August 2, 2024. She was on bail at the time from just weeks earlier.

Appearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on March 11, prosecutors accepted a not guilty plea to an allegation she stole sweets from the shop.

Brady, 42, previously also admitted breaking a bail order from Glasgow Sheriff Court not to contact a man or enter a property in Onslow Road, Clydebank. She was found there on February 21.

And last April, at a property in the town's Kirkoswald Drive, she repeatedly punched and slapped a man. She had bail orders from both the courts in Glasgow and Dumbarton at the time.

At the latest hearing, her defence solicitor said his client had "little recollection" of what happened.

After seeing the CCTV, "she appreciates the seriousness of the position she is in today" he added.

A community payback order was imposed in November at Glasgow Sheriff Court in another case. And Brady, of Carolside Avenue, Glasgow, is awaiting a placement within a residential rehabilitation service.

The solicitor said there was "recent progress".

Sheriff Frances McCartney said: "You have an appalling record. You have similar previous convictions. It would be very difficult not to send you to custody today.

"I'm not persuaded there is an alternative so you should prepare yourself for that outcome."

Brady will be sentenced on April 13 after reports are prepared.
