Top marks for Clydemuir primary as inspectors praise staff

Children and staff at Clydemuir Primary School are bouncing for joy following a recent visit by Education Scotland.

The school was given some of the highest ratings available by inspectors with staff recognised for their focus on wellbeing which is fostering a positive and highly inclusive ethos.

This is further acknowledged and supported by the wider school community.

It was highlighted that children are learning well because of carefully considered, respectful and vibrant learning environments with calmer spaces available where required.

Councillor Clare Steel, convener of Educational Services, said: “This is a great report and I want to take the opportunity to congratulate the staff, pupils and the wider school community for all their efforts in achieving this.

“It is heartening to hear how staff take a real interest in the children at the school and how this is reaping benefits for the pupils who feel safe, comfortable and supported in their learning and wellbeing.”

The inspection report noted that staff are empowered by senior leaders to be involved in change and were praised for being aware of the needs of children, displaying compassion and sensitivity in supporting families.

Most children attain well in literacy and numeracy with staff using the information available to identify and support children who experience barriers to their learning, inspectors found.

The school was ranked ‘very good’, for leadership of change and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion and it received ‘good’ gradings for learning, teaching and assessment; and raising attainment and achievement.
