An MSP has backed the First Minister's message for Scotland ahead of the upcoming Holyrood election.

Marie McNair, MSP for Clydebank and Milngavie, welcomed First Minister John Swinney’s latest speech on the future of Scotland, delivered at the SNP’s first election event of the year on Monday

The speech saw Mr Swinney highlight progress in health, education and business investment, as well as reductions in child poverty.

“This election is about hope, choosing a future where decisions are made in Scotland, our energy wealth works for our people, and we build a country that is fairer, greener and more prosperous.

“Scotland could be in the early days of a better nation; we just need to vote for it.

“That’s what the SNP is offering – trusted leadership and a positive vision for Scotland as we progress on our journey towards taking our place in the world as a wealthy, European nation with the fresh start of independence.”
