A new flight has been launched from Glasgow Airport to a US city.

Aer Lingus has announced that the new transatlantic service will start from May 25, 2026 and take customers to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The flights will connect through Dublin from Glasgow, as well as 12 other UK cities.

By connecting there, travellers can avail of Dublin Airport’s unique US preclearance facility, which allows passengers bound for the United States to complete immigration and customs procedures before departure.

Upon arrival stateside, they are treated as domestic passengers, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience.

Customers will fly on an Airbus A321neoLR, with dual-class seats, including 16 business-class spaces with lie-flat seating.

They will also enjoy complimentary meals and refreshments, as well as an extensive in-flight entertainment offering.

Commenting on the new route, Pittsburgh International Airport CEO Christina Cassotis said: “The Pittsburgh region’s connections to Ireland run deep – both in today’s strong business market and ancestral ties – and this is a route that community leaders have been seeking.

"We are thrilled to have a partner in Aer Lingus that will serve Pittsburgh’s growing market for nonstop service to Ireland and beyond, and we look forward to welcoming even more European travellers to Pittsburgh.”

Susanne Carberry, chief customer officer at Aer Lingus, said: “Aer Lingus is particularly pleased to add Pittsburgh to our transatlantic network, having worked closely with partners in the region to make this a possibility.

“This route builds on our strong partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers and further cements Aer Lingus’ position as a leading transatlantic carrier. Through its Dublin hub, Aer Lingus provides convenient connections that link Pittsburgh with over 30 destinations across Europe and the UK.”
