A thug fractured four of his mum's ribs in a brutal assault.

Carrigan then grabbed what was described as "room spray" and sprayed it on her head.

The police were contacted and officers arrived to see Carrigan lying on the bed and his mother on the floor, visibly injured.

His mother was taken to hospital meantime after she complained of pain to her ribs and struggled to breathe.

Miss Keel added: "She was found to have suffered four fractured ribs and tissue damage to her face."

He also admitted assaulting the police officer.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Jonathan Guy who bailed Carrigan meantime.
