This is my first chance to write to you since being selected as Scottish Labour’s candidate for Glasgow Anniesland, and it is a real honour.

This is my home.

It is where I live.

I know the challenges people face because I hear them every week at the school gates, in the shops and on the doorstep.

People tell me about the stress of trying to get a doctor’s appointment, about damp patches spreading in their flats, about the buses that never come and about the daily grind of feeling like services are slipping away from them.

For too long, Glasgow Anniesland has been let down.

SNP leader after SNP leader has promised change, but all we have had are cuts, chaos and excuses.

People are tired of being ignored.

They are crying out for change, and I feel that too.

Right now, our NHS is on its knees.

Constituents tell me they wait weeks for a GP appointment, or sit for hours in A and E because there was nowhere else to go.

Teachers tell me how hard it is to give every child the attention they need.

Families in temporary accommodation share their worry that their children are growing up without a stable home.

These are not statistics – they are real lives, and it is clear to me that enough is enough.

That is why I am standing to be a strong, visible and trusted champion for Glasgow Anniesland.

I want to be your MSP, fighting every day for the people who live here.

Scottish Labour is offering a New Deal for Glasgow’s Future built on five clear priorities:

• Get Glasgow Growing Again
• Rebuild our NHS
• Opportunity for Every Young Person
• Safer Streets
• Building More Homes

We have already seen what Labour can deliver.

The UK Labour government has secured the largest shipbuilding export deal in British history, worth £10 billion for Type 26 frigates.

This guarantees 15 years of work at Scotstoun and secures thousands of jobs for Glasgow.

That is the kind of ambition our city deserves.

But pride in Glasgow Anniesland is about more than jobs.

It is about feeling safe in your neighbourhood, knowing your children can learn in smaller classes with proper support, and being confident you can see a doctor when you need one.

It is about dignity, security and hope.

Over the next year, I will be knocking every door in this constituency, listening to you and setting out a vision for our community and for our city.

Now it’s time we had a Scottish government that was just as ambitious for our community, for our city and for our country.

We need a visible, local and strong MSP who will fight for Glasgow Anniesland every single day.

That’s the choice in 2026: decline with the SNP or a new direction with Scottish Labour.
