A brand new art festival, which has promised to be family-friendly, is coming to West Dunbartonshire.

Roman Fest, a food, dance and performance festival, will be held in Old Kilpatrick on June 28 to celebrate the area's history with the Romans.

Organised by Hydra Arts, the event will include six new art commissions as well as interactive activities, from Roman object handling, guided walks, and Roman Guards.

The day-long festival will run from 11am till late and is asking members of the community to get involved.

Renowned artists Nic Green and Vince Virr are looking for a community cast to be part of the making and performance of a Roman-ish dance spectacular called Verses Immerses.

Information can be found at www.hydraarts.org/opportunities.

Peter McMaster, artistic director, said: "Planning Roman Fest is an absolutely brilliant experience.

"Having worked in the area for a number of years, we have been really enjoying dreaming up all the different ways we can playfully interact with the ideas of the Romans, and we are super excited to be able to offer the communities we work with a celebratory day of fun for all the family."

Hydra Arts is a participatory arts project based in West Dunbartonshire. They make ambitious, accessible and once-in-a-lifetime original artworks with and for the communities they engage with.
