A bus firm is raising its fares on services it operates into Glasgow from next month.

West Coast Motors has announced an average rise of 6% across its range of tickets.

The company runs the No. 15 service between Milngavie and the city centre and service No. 17  between Duntocher to the city centre via Maryhill and Bearsden.

West Coast Motors operates a network of bus routes across Scotland, including Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire.

The increase affects single, all-day and five-day tickets across the two services.

The fares to rise are Adult Single: £2.00 (previously £1.90)

An Adult Day: £5.60 (previously £5.30)

A Child Day: £2.10 (previously £2.00)

A Student Day: £4.50 (previously £4.10)

App Day: £4.60 (previously £4.15)

App 5 Day: £20.99 (previously £19.99)

West Coast Motors said the rise is necessary due to rising operational costs.

Richy Graham, operations manager at West Coast Motors, stated, "While the decision to increase fares was not made lightly, it is essential to ensure that we can continue offering the high level of service our customers expect.

“We are dedicated to maintaining a balance between affordability and operational sustainability."

Earlier this month, the Glasgow Times reported First Bus was raising fares in the city.

McGill’s Buses had a fare rise in January this year and has no place for further rises at present.
