A FURTHER step has been taken towards the future development of Drumchapel.
It comes after Glasgow City Council officially adopted the Local Development Framework (LDF) for the area on Wednesday, September 11 as Spatial Supplementary Guidance to the City Development Plan.
The document recommends coordinated short, medium, and long-term activity to deliver the area’s future development and regeneration.
It contains advice for several development types including housing, facilities, shops, public spaces, transport infrastructure, parks, and play areas.
The draft Drumchapel LDF was published on the council’s Consultation Hub between June 27 and September 5, 2023.
The final version was approved by the council on June 6, 2024, before being submitted to the Scottish Government.
The Drumchapel LDF establishes principles for development and will guide initiatives such as the Drumchapel Town Centre Regeneration Project and the council’s housing delivery programme.
The vision set out is "for people to feel that Drumchapel is a pleasant and well-connected place to live in and visit, where day-to-day needs are catered for and there are good opportunities for social interaction, recreation, work and education."
Across Glasgow, LDFs will deliver planning change at a local level for three areas of the city – Drumchapel, Greater Pollok, and South Central – where it is recognised that an additional layer of planning intervention is required.
