A local community centre hopes to bring people together with its new initiative.

Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre (HSCC) is running a Chatty Café Scheme.

It will be held at the Balmoral Street hub every Tuesday from 11am.

‘Chatter & Natter’ tables will be set up creating a space for people to talk to each other whether that be for five minutes or longer.

Organisers say the aim isn’t to build friendships but to encourage interactions which could help combat feelings of loneliness.

A statement reads: “We’re not trying to build friendships – just simple interactions to combat loneliness and to just maybe have a big impact on someone’s day.

“Although the aims of the scheme are to reduce loneliness and get people chatting we decided not to use the word loneliness on any of the publicity that is displayed in cafes.

“Instead it is very positive and focuses on bringing people of all ages and from all walks of life together.

“We want to mix everyone up.”
