A Clydebank charity is set to temporarily close for a month.

The Recycle Room announced the news over the weekend.

A statement posted on the charity’s Facebook page confirmed it would be closing its Onslow Road hub for four weeks from June 10 to July 8.

It is understood that this is to allow for the building to be used as a polling station for two upcoming elections – the Clydebank Central by-election and the UK General Election  - and for repair work to be carried out.

The statement reads: “We will be closing for four weeks from June 10 until July 8. This is not an easy thing for us to do but with us having to clear the building for it to be used as a polling station and two elections it is easier for us to stay closed and during that time complete repairs.

“We hope you all understand.”

Repair work at the centre includes getting new windows, sorting holes in the roof, updating its community laundry service, getting new shutters, sorting the guttering, getting new energy-saving lighting, and sorting the ceilings.

Bankies expressed their support in the comments.

One person said: “Hope all goes well with your repairs.”

A second added: “Good luck.”
